Researchers have found that the values of play are extensive and encompass the whole child-cognitively, socially, emotionally, and physically. At our daycares, we will encompass all these areas.
Play provides many opportunities for children to create, invent and design as they build, draw and dramatize. It is a natural way for a child to express creativity; and creativity is considered the highest form of problem solving.
Play also encourages social interaction. Children learn about negotiating, resolving conflicts, fairness and competition. For example, they learn how to share, take turns, be patient, and to cooperate. In addition, play can help children develop friendships.
Play is a way for children to express their feeling and their thoughts. They can express unacceptable feelings in acceptable ways. Play can soften the realities of the real world. Play aids in the development of self-confidence and competence. And it is essential in contributing to a child’s well-being and self-concept.
Play is the primary way physical and motor development is promoted. Through play, they develop a command of their bodies as they hop, jump, skip, throw, and climb. It also contributes to the development of hand-eye coordination through activities such as building with blocks, painting, cutting or pasting.
We look forward to working with your family and providing a safe and stimulating environment in which your child can grow and develop to his or her fullest capacity.
